About Tim
I came to data science through fieldwork.
I’m an ecologist turned data scientist and product builder based in Tucson. I build data-collection apps, dashboards, databases, and automation tools for environmental consultants, research teams, and small organizations.
Ecologist → data scientist → product builderBackground
From field ecology to data products.
I started by collecting ecological data—small-mammal trapping, electrofishing, vegetation surveys, and more—with the National Ecological Observatory Network. I began teaching myself to code because I was curious about what happened to the data after it left the field.
That curiosity became a career. Today I work on data applications at the University of Arizona, build in R and Python, and run Desert Data Labs. I’m also completing an M.S. in Data Science.
The mix matters: I understand the field constraints, the data model, and the person who eventually needs an answer.
